Bad Breathe Can Reveal Dental Problems

Bad breathe or Halitosis (medical name) is the odor in the mouth.  It can be the results of dental health problems, and maybe an indicator of other medical health issues.

Bad Breathe, Halitosis, Tempe, Chandler, Mesa, Phoenix, Gilbert, ArizonaAs the food is consumed, it will start breaking down by the mechanical grinding by the teeth and chemical breakdown by the enzymes in the saliva.  The digested food will be absorbed by body’s digestive system, carried to the bloodstream.  Some of these food particles will create dissolve gasseous byproducts and they will be carried to the lung and the gas will then be given off in your breathe.

If the food debris are not removed, they will promote bacteria growth on the teeth and within the sulcus of the gum.  This would cause bad breathe.

With the periodontal disease, the gum pockets is deep and in term, creates increased food retention.  Deep pockets make it harder to clean out the food debris.  Bad breathe occurs.  Thus, bad breathe might be an indicator of periodontal problem.

Often, the presence of cavities and defective worn dental restoration can cause food accumulation, which in terms bad breathe can result.

Other dental causes of bad breathe in the mouth include yeast/fungal infection of the mouth, and unhygienic dental/mouth dentures.
