Invisalign or Braces? Here’s How I Help Patients Decide
This comes up almost every day in the office.
Patients want straighter teeth, but they’re not sure whether Invisalign or traditional braces are the better option.
The truth is—it depends on the person.
What I Tell My Patients
If your case is mild to moderate, Invisalign is often a great option.
It’s clear, removable, and much easier to live with day-to-day.
But for more complex cases—especially involving bite correction—braces can sometimes be more effective.
Lifestyle Matters More Than You Think
One thing I always point out:
Invisalign only works if you wear it consistently.
If you’re disciplined and keep the aligners in as directed, the results can be excellent.
If not, braces may actually be the better choice.
Comfort and Appearance
Most patients prefer Invisalign because:
- It’s less noticeable
- It’s more comfortable
- You can take it out when eating
But both options can get you to a great result.
My Recommendation
Rather than guessing, it’s best to take a look and talk through your goals.
I’ll give you a straightforward recommendation based on what will work best—not just what’s popular.
